PAKISTAN'S FEMALE GUITARIST IS
A SIX STRING REVELATION
Saima Zakir is the female pioneer of electric guitar playing in Pakistan, who is proficient on the instrument in various music genres. She is a graduate of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS), holding a double distinction for her Degree in Design. Her relentless passion for music and playing the electric guitar took her to the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) where she earned her diploma in music (Major in Guitars) under the tutelage of guitar extraordinaire, Afaq Adnan. Other than studio session experience, her solo music resumé includes videos and live performances of famous tunes, Jazz standards, guitar instrumentals, jams, and covers, in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. She has performed on stage, as well as at a music workshop, with the U.S.-based Ari Roland Jazz Quartet. Her collaborations include performing live with Afaq Adnan, Ustad Bashir Khan, Aamir Zaki (in a project called 'Just in Case'), amongst many other renowned industry veterans. Be it live or the studio, Saima's priority has always been to undertake work that sparks her curiosity, is uncompromising on work quality, discipline, and offers room for creative expression and musical growth
